A downloadable game for Windows

About the game

The Bizarre Quest for the Thingamajig (TBQT) is a four-player couch co-op comedy adventure game that I originally made for my family. However, I also want to make it publicly available. In this "tragic story", you embark on a bizarre quest across great distances, alongside three other players, to recover a stolen and mysterious object.

TBQT supports input from keyboards and most gamepads.

Joining the game

In order to join the game and assume control of one of the four available characters, it is enough to simply press any button on your keyboard or gamepad and pick a character in the character selection screen, which becomes available when a new player joins.

Starting the game

The game starts on an island that allows the players to get familiar and comfortable with the controls of the game. Once each player feels like they're ready to play the game, then navigate to the top-most area of the island and the game will start.

Just to be clear, the "north button" can be translated to the "triangle button" on a PlayStation gamepad or the "Y button" on an Xbox gamepad. The "west button" is then the "square button" on a PS gamepad and the "X button" on an Xbox gamepad, and so on.

Quirks

  • Thor cannot perform long-range attacks
  • Thor is the only player capable of continuing the dialog in cutscenes. However, NPC dialogs can be continued by the player that started it

Install instructions

Download and extract the build ZIP file. Once you have extracted it, you should have access to a file named The Adventure (TLS).exe which you can run to start the game. Note that, since this is a Unity build, you have to preserve the folder structure of the ZIP file, e.g., make sure that The Adventure (TLS)_Data folder is in the same directory as the executable as well as UnityPlayer.dllUnityCrashHandler64.exe, etc.
